Berdine Marie Poock was born January7, 1923, on a farm in Bremer County near Sumner, Iowa, daughter of Oscar and Mary (Kuhlmann) Poock. She graduated from Oran High School in 1940. Following high school, she took a government and civil service course and then moved to Waterloo to seek employment in the bookkeeping field. The last 33 years she worked for the Waterloo Chevrolet dealership, retiring from Rydell’s in 1987. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.
Her fun times were traveling by train, car or plane on vacations. She especially enjoyed the New York and Montreal World Fairs, and a trip to Hawaii. Later she traveled with the YWCA tour group of Waterloo and volunteered at Allen Hospital as a patient escort.
Berdine passed away on November 10, 2023, at NewAldaya Lifescapes. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Eunice Gannegan and Mildred Poock and one niece. She is survived by one sister, Charlotte Bergman of Cedar Falls, two nephews and one niece.
