Brian William Prugh of Waterloo passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the age of 65. Brian was born in Waterloo on September 26, 1959, to Marvin and Louise (Walker) Prugh, the 10th of 10 children.
Brian started work early in life as a truck driver in Colorado, then returned to Iowa and worked for Warren Transport and later Gray Transportation. After gaining the experience and knowledge that he needed, he bought his own truck and started his own trucking business. Brian took great pride in his work, and his dedication and independence left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Outside of work, Brian was a man of many passions. He loved horses, enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, hunting for antiques to add to his growing collection, and spending evenings with friends. Brian was known for marching to the beat of his own drum. His strengths, independence, and authenticity were qualities admired by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Louise Prugh; brothers Gary, Dennis, and Alan; and his sisters, Paula Hoyer and Barbara Prugh.
Brian is survived by his sons, Dakota (Danyelle) Prugh of Colorado and Cody Prugh of New York; his brothers, Terry (Deb) Prugh of South Dakota and Bob (Debbie) Prugh of Waterloo; his sisters, Marlys Byers of Colorado and Denise (Jerry) Bond of Iowa; his two grandsons, Wyatt and Waylon Prugh of Colorado; and longtime special friend Velda Sterrett of Waterloo.
