Charles Brown

Waterloo, Iowa

Charles Wayne Brown was born on February 19, 1928, in Dows, the son of Ernest and Else (Davidson) Brown.  He graduated from Ottumwa High School.  Charles served his country in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948.   He worked as an inspector for John Deere for many years until his retirement.  On May 12, 1978, Charles was united in marriage to Marlene Granneman in Dubuque.  He enjoyed watching Westerns on TV, camping, biking, going to the cabin, and going to the casino.  Charles died at the age of 95 on February 14, 2024, at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 2 sons, Stephen and Ricky; 7 sisters, and 3 brothers.   Charles is survived by a son, Gary Brown of Owasso, Oklahoma; 3 step children, Barbara, Dennis, and Gary; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.  The funeral will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories with a visitation for an hour prior to the service.  The burial will take place at Garden of Memories Cemetery following the service.
