Dan Stumme, 75, passed away surrounded by his family on June 15, 2026, of natural causes.

Dan was born May 22, 1951, in Waterloo, IA to Milton and Maxine Stumme.He is survived by his long-time partner Bob Myshka, brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Diane Stumme, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Vicki Stumme, nieces Jennifer Stumme (Adi Shankar) of Los Angeles, California and Jessica Stumme (Sara Lopez)of Durango, Colorado.

From the time of his birth Dan was a happy guy with a big appetite for life and his mother’s cooking. Dan appreciated everything and everyone. He had an easy smile and was quick to hug. His loveable demeanor and sense of humor attracted people to him. Dan was a social being and could be very entertaining. He was just fun to be around.

Dan spent a lifetime building and maintaining strong connections with people. This included family, classmates, colleagues from work, and friends of his parents. He had a great love of nature.

Dan’s approachable style made him effective and successful in sales, which he did in retail and real estate. A hallmark of Dan’s character was in helping others. This is demonstrated through his volunteer work across time and includes: being active in the Cedar Valley as a volunteer with Hartman Reserve Nature Center, Hearst Center for the Arts, Family Service League as a crisis services phone counselor, Habitat for Humanity, and on the church council at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.

A laudable and truly endearing characteristic Dan possessed was his generosity. He willingly gave everything of himself – his time, his thoughts, his endless compassion. He was truly a selfless person.

There will be no visitation, his body has been cremated and buried. Dan will be honored in a private family celebration of life.
