Daniel Thomas Welsh

On June 20, 2025, Daniel Thomas Welsh, aka "Ole Duffer Geezer", was finally where he wanted to be, five years later, with his loving wife Lucille.

Daniel was born on October 14, 1935, in Waterloo, IA, to Michael Leo Welsh and Helene Marie Dage, and was raised throughout his life.

The youngest of four children, “Mush Pants” (so lovingly called by his dad), was always constantly lending a hand to whatever the project may be.

After graduating from Sacred Heart, Daniel served in the U.S. Army and went to Korea. When he arrived back, he went to work for John Deere as an electrician, retiring after 37 years.

Daniel married Lucille Landsteiner on January 3, 1959, in Fairmont, Minnesota. Daniel and Lucille had three children, Debbie, Nancy, and Tim.

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Ipo) Kaaihue of Waterloo, IA; his son, Tim ( Julie) Welsh of the Quad Cities, IA; grandchildren Warren (Britney), Leiana (Johnny), Jessica (John), Justin (Meghan), Danny (Sara), Nicole (Chris), Pualeina, Bradley (Ashley), Brock (Ashley) Melissa (Cyle), Dylan, and Daniel; great grandchildren Cylar, NaKoa, Mina, Rico, Colton, Mila, Avery, Parker, Jacob, Kylee, Jazlynn, Savion, Leilani, Deacon, Maelynn, Al, Emi, Jaelynn, Kyden, Rorric, Lucian, Anya, Luka, Lucy, and Quinn.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; one daughter, Debbie; one grandson, Brandon; his parents, Michael and Helene Welsh; one brother, Norman; two sisters, Julia and June; and his little Suzie🐾.

There are no services at this time. In place of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. 

My Dad was a kind man who could always seem to find the good in anyone. Very patient and smart. I don’t remember anything he couldn’t do.

“Someday is not a day of the week.”
