Danny Dale Hildebrand of Cedar Falls, lowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on May 3, 1952, to Edward and Millie (Rush) Hildebrand, Danny's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew him.
Danny's family relocated to Cedar Falls where he embraced his community and took pride in graduating from Cedar Falls High School. Shortly after his graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Danny faithfully served until his honorable discharge in September 1978, during which time he earned the National Defense Service Medal, a testament to his commitment and service.
Love found Danny one memorable evening at the Greyhound Lounge, where he met the love of his life, Sandra Steen. Their bond blossomed and culminated in marriage on May 17, 2009, at The Vineyard Church in Evansdale. His wife Sandra, fondly known as Sandy, survives him, sharing in the enduring memories of their life together.
A natural mechanic and fixer, Danny was self-employed for much of his life, tirelessly repairing motorcycles, cars, lawn mowers, and just about anything in need of a fix. His passion for problem-solving and craftsmanship earned him admiration from friends and family alike. He continued this work until retiring at the age of 70.
Danny's love for the outdoors was evident in his simple joys--feeding birds and his affection for animals, particularly his loyal companion Nacho, who preceded him in passing. Those who knew Danny also remember his quick wit and jovial nature; he was known as a true jokester who loved sharing laughter and lighthearted moments with anyone willing to listen.
Danny was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edward and Millie Hildebrand; his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Emery Griffith; his sister Diane Hildebrand; and his niece Danette Hildebrand.
He leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply: his wife Sandy of Cedar Falls; daughters Cassandra and Laurinda; stepson Richard Regan of Wisconsin; stepdaughters Rhonda Jenkins of Grundy Center and Heather Regan of Waterloo; brothers Dale Hildebrand of Allison and Darren Hildebrand of Waterloo; grandchildren Sydney Regan, Anthony Kioga, and Jacob Regan; and one great-grandchild, Colter. He also touched the lives of many family friends who mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
Danny Dale Hildebrand's legacy is one of service, skill, humor, and love. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated veteran, and a friend who brought laughter and kindness to those around him. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
