David Gerald Mosley, of Waterloo, Iowa, departed this life at the Waterloo Hospice House on Friday, August 21, 2026. David was born on April 1, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Willie James Mosley and Ruth (Stewart) Mosley.

David began his education at Grant Elementary School and St. Mary’s Elementary School, Columbus High School. He graduated grom East High School in June 1966.

David accepted Christ at an early age at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He served as an altar boy at St. Peter’s Church and Queen of Peace.

David enjoyed spending time with his friends each day watching Gunsmoke, playing cards, and sharing conversation. They often gathered at Billy Teague’s house, formerly known as Celebration Lane, where they sat in the garage and discussed world events, current events, and happenings in “the Loo.”

David married Daree (Duff) Jackson on December 12, 2012, in Waterloo, Iowa. Through this union, he gained two stepchildren.

David is survived by his brother, Robert (Rosa) Mosley of Waterloo; his sister, Christeen (Eugene) Howard of Atlanta, Georgia; his stepdaughter, Kim Aleica (Michael) Blaylock of Altadena, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ruth Mosley; his sister, Ruth Mosley Houston; his brothers, Leon V. Mosley and Jasper P. Houston; his nephew, Da Tavius “Doc” Houston; and his stepson, Kelly O’Neil Jackson (Geela) of Saginaw, Texas.

A Prayer from David

Father, I thank You for each day You have blessed me here on earth. Thank You for Your tender mercy. Thank You for giving me friends and family with whom to share both joys and sorrows. I ask You to bless my friends, relatives, brothers and sisters in Christ, and all those I care deeply for who are reading this now.

Where there is joy, give them continued joy. Where there is pain or sorrow, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, renew their confidence. Where there is need, provide for them. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings, and their comings. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
