David Allen Pierce, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at UnityPoint Hospital. He was 69 years old and leaves behind a legacy filled with cherished memories and lasting impact on those who knew him.
Born on November 6, 1956, in Waterloo to Donald and Maryann (Brustkern) Pierce, David was a proud lifelong resident of the city. He attended school in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo West High, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with passion and determination. Following high school, David joined his father in their family business, Pierce Used Cars, where he dedicated himself to serving the community and building lasting relationships with customers.
David had a great love for life that was reflected in his interests and pursuits. His fascination with Harleys was particularly noteworthy; he cherished the motorcycle he owned and took great joy in riding it during his leisure time. Alongside this passion, David found solace in nature while fishing and was an avid fan of Nascar. even enjoyed attending the races. He looked forward to going to his great nephews' races as well. He greatly appreciated the moments spent with family and friends, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Maryann; one brother, Danny Pierce; and one sister, Deanna Pierce-Bauler. He is survived by three sisters, Deborah Suzan of Madison, WI, Donnette (Tom) Sutton of Brandon, IA, and Delia Pierce of Marion, IA; one sister-in-law, Judy Pierce of Waterloo, IA; nephews, Josh, Nate and Braxton; niece Courtney; great nephews Beckett, Grant, Maddox, Barrett, and Huxon; and great nieces Taylor and Berkley.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the Shine House, located at 2021 Howard Dr, Waterloo, IA.
David Allen Pierce will be remembered for his warm spirit, adventurous nature, and the profound love he had for those around him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He’s up in heaven now, he took
That final ride.
He’s with the angels now,
He’s riding like an eagle, beyond where
We can see.
He took that final journey…
Forever riding free.
