DeAngelo Fontaine Taylor of Waterloo, IA, was called home to Glory on July 8, 2026. Born on November 9, 1968, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Rose L. Walker and Archie L. Taylor Jr., DeAngelo spent his life in the community that shaped him.

A proud graduate of Waterloo East High School’s class of 1987, DeAngelo began his adult years working diligently at a variety of jobs, always striving to provide for himself and his family. Sixteen years ago, he found his place at Bertch Cabinets, where he became a valued member of their team and built strong bonds with his colleagues.

DeAngelo lived a quiet and unassuming life, rarely the center of attention, but always present with a dedication to his interests and loved ones. Though not the most talkative or outgoing, those who knew him witnessed the subtle depth of his humor and his unique passions. He found joy and discipline through weightlifting and karate, pursuits that reflected both his inner strength and his calm focus.

Science fiction held a special place in his heart—especially his fondness for the “Child’s Play” franchise. Friends and strangers alike were known to spot DeAngelo driving around town with his Chucky doll, a sight that often startled but amply demonstrated his love for the unexpected and whimsical side of life. An avid collector, DeAngelo also amassed an impressive selection of knives and swords, treasuring their artistry and history.

DeAngelo’s legacy is lovingly carried forward by his daughter, Dawn Marie (Jonah Finley) Roberts of Texas, who, along with his three grandchildren, brought him pride and happiness. He is also survived by four brothers: Anthony C. Taylor, Archie L. Taylor, and Louis E. Taylor, all of Waterloo, and Tyrone (Archille) Taylor of Minnesota; as well as four sisters: Sharra R. Taylor, Chelea Walker, Kimberly (Phil) Krough, all of Waterloo, and Deborah Ketchens of Arizona. His extended family includes a host of devoted nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose L. Walker; his father, Archie L. Taylor Jr.; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his brother, Rodney Epps.

DeAngelo Taylor’s spirit will be remembered for his quiet strength, his passion for the things he loved, and the meaningful ways he touched those around him. He is dearly missed by family and friends who celebrate the memories and lasting impact he leaves behind.
