Della L. Reeves

Della L. (Hansen) Reeves of Waterloo, Iowa, gracefully passed Sunday, June 8, 2025, while under the care of Ravenwood Specialty Care. She was 100 years old. 

Della was born in Iowa on July 15, 1924, to Joseph and Della Hansen. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1942 and soon after pursued her passion for caring for others by enrolling in nursing school in Marshalltown, Iowa, graduating in 1945. After completing her education, Della began her nursing career at St. Francis Hospital and then Schoitz Hospital, where she served with dedication and compassion until her retirement in 1986.

In 1948, Della married John, and together they shared many happy years until his passing in 1962. She later married Eldon in 1968. Though the marriage ended in divorce, they remained a part of each other's lives until Eldon's passing in the 1980s.

Della was a very passionate person and took great pride in her work. She also had several hobbies outside of work. She was always known to have a green thumb and loved spending nice summer days tending to her garden. Della loved all types of music; she not only enjoyed listening to it but also playing the piano. Della was also a gifted artist who spent time taking art classes and creating beautiful oil paintings.

Della is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Della Hansen; her son Craig Grekoff and her stillborn son Darell Grekoff; and her four sisters Esther, Virginia, Leora, and Lucille.

Della is survived by her daughter Connie Grekoff of Waterloo, IA., and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Services will be held Thursday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. at St Ansgar Lutheran Church, 1122 W 11th St, Waterloo, IA 50702.
