Dewand Daniels was born on April 26, 1974, in Water Valley, Mississippi. He was the beloved son of Woodrow and Bernice Daniels Jr.

Dewand attended school in Mississippi and graduated from Water Valley High School in 1993. During the 1990s, Dewand relocated to Waterloo, Iowa. He met Audrea Nielson in 1998. They were married in 2006. During this union, they grew their family and had three children together. They later divorced.

Gifted with the ability to catch on quickly, Dewand was valued in the workforce. Dewand learned the concrete business from his father and worked with the family business for many years. In addition, he also worked at Iowa Beef Processing and Omega Cabinets.

Dewand was the life of every family event. Skillet was known for making sure that wherever he was, he could make everyone laugh. Dewand's motto was to make the day brighter whenever he was around. Being around his parents, siblings, children, and friends was never taken for granted. His greatest joy was not only being around family but also making sure that his kids and grandkids knew how much they were adored. In Dewand’s eyes, nobody was judged or a stranger to him. This ties into one of his favorite scriptures from Luke 18:1-8.

Dewand departed this life on August 5, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Bernice Daniels; five children, Desiree Greer, Aaron (Sarah) Greer, Alayna Kollasch, Devon Kollasch, and Aidan Nielson; five grandchildren, Brayden, Jaxon, and Madilyn Greer; Ava and Caiden Robicheaux; nine siblings, Michael White, Eugene (Sandra) Daniels, James Earl (Jessica) Daniels, Woodrow (Wanda) Daniels, Nita Daniels, Bobby (Andrea) Daniels, Gertie (Lucious) Morris, Bryant (Anita) Daniels, and Eric (Cutrina) Daniels. Dewand has numerous nieces, nephews, beloved family, and friends surviving him as well. He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Daniels Jr., and two sisters Patricia Lester and Vicky Daniels.
