Dorothy Rose Allen

Dorothy Rose Allen was born September 23, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of John and Caroline (Grace) Weil. She graduated from Waukee High School. Dorothy married Jack Allen on April 12, 1947, in Waukee; he preceded her in death on October 17, 2006.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and family was her everything. Her strength, tenacity, humor, sassiness and faith were an example to all.

Dorothy passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Bartels Home in Waverly, at the age of 96. She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, a sister, and their spouses; son-in-law, Mike Dvorak and a granddaughter, Jodi Derifield-Betts.

Dorothy is survived by her six children, Carolyn (Gary) Derifield of Waverly, John (Linda) Allen of Council Bluffs, Gladys (Scott) Diehl of Council Bluffs, Stanley (Jane) Allen of Bennington, Nebraska, Mary Dvorak of Fairbank and Leo Allen of Grand Island, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bartels Home in Waverly or St. Croix Hospice.

Visitation: Monday, November 27, 2023, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, with a Vigil Service at 5:00 pm, at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.

Funeral Mass: Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, 2700 Horton Rd., Waverly.

Burial: Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Garden of Memories.
