Ellamae (Peach) Markel, 87, passed away on June 2nd, 2026.

She was born on August 14th, 1938, in Stockton, Missouri. The family then moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where she met and married Gunner Hattrup II, “Bud”. Together, they welcomed two beloved children, Gunner Hattrup III “Buddy” and Lorrie (Hattrup) Dripps. She would later marry Paul Arnold.

In her later years, Ellamae returned to Stockton, Missouri, spending several years close to her siblings and enjoying the familiar roots of her hometown. It was there that she met and married John Markel. She eventually returned to Waterloo, Iowa, where she spent her final days close to her son and family, and her friends.

Many have remarked on how beautiful Ellamae was! One niece even thought she looked like an angel the first time she saw her. She was known for her strong work ethic and her feisty, unforgettable sense of humor. She loved to sew and make crafts, and almost everyone she knew received one of her handmade clowns or sock monkeys.

She was a giving soul. She was always ready to help, always ready to share, always ready to brighten someone’s day. As a friend and neighbor, she was dependable, warm, and deeply caring. Her door was always open, and her hands were always busy making something to give, to bring joy to someone else.

Ellamae is survived by her children, Buddy and his wife Laurie, and Lorrie and her husband Ray. Her grandchildren, Jennifer (Dripps) De Vol (Steven), Kyle Hattrup (Allison), and Daniel Dripps (Meri); her great‑grandsons, Liam and Henry De Vol; her brother Lee Peach, and her sisters, Idella LaRocca and Sharon Norman (Wendall), and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gunner Hattrup and Paul Arnold; her parents, Russell and Glenace Peach; sister Florene Stillions; her brother, LeRoy “Bill” Peach; her sister, Elvena Warner and brother-in-law Bill Warner, and her sister-in-law, Brenda Peach, and her nephew, John Warner, his wife, Kathy Warner, and nephew, Rusty Peach, and grandson-in-law, Phillip De Vol.

A Memorial will be held in Stockton, MO, at a later date, by her family.
