Esther Ida Eickhoff was born November 10, 1931, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Thresa (Graves) Arndt. She grew up in Sac City where she graduated from High School. Esther was united in marriage to Charles “Ike” Eickhoff on September 4, 1949, in Sac City; he preceded her in death on July 25, 2001. She worked at an elementary school in Waterloo, then later worked as the school secretary at Waterloo East High School. Esther enjoyed sewing, ceramics, knitting afghan blankets and had a beautiful garden of flowers. She was very active at Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
Esther passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Bickford Senior Living, at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Charles Eickhoff, Jr. and her brothers and sisters. Esther is survived by a son, Ben (Annelle) Eickhoff of Evansdale; a daughter, Karen (Bill) Wersinger of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Amanda, Amy (Kevin), Tammy (James), Erica (Jeremy), Renee and Angeline; six great-grandchildren, Daniel III (Kaitlyn), Dakota, Joshua (Olivia), Abigail, Aiden and Trevor.
Visitation: Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, Iowa.
