Evelyn Ruth Phennicie

Evelyn R. Phennicie, 90, of Elk Run Heights, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at home. Evelyn was born September 23, 1935, in Waterloo, the daughter of Orren and Edna (Simmons) Mussett.

Evelyn graduated from East Waterloo High School. Evelyn married William Phennicie in 1953, in Waterloo and later divorced.

Evelyn joined the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in 1966. She was a member of the Drill and Ritual Team. Evelyn worked at Raths and Brown & Dieckman Insurance Company. She was a Christian and was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Evansdale. Evelyn loved to travel. Her and Karen went on many trips. Evelyn also spent weekend trips with Al. Her favorite restaurants were Longhorn Steakhouse and Perkins.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Harry), Linda (Curt) and Lori (Terry); four grandchildren, Misty (Gary), Paul III (Jeni), Nick and Trey (Kayla); eight great-grandchildren, Dakota, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Allison, Bradyn, Addilyn, Conor and Beckham and also her special friend, Al Balvanz. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Irene and Janice; son-in-law, Harry and two brothers-in-law, Don and Jim.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Visitation: Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, and an hour prior to services at the church.

Service: Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 610 S. Evans Rd., Evansdale.
