Gerald Elin

Gerald Elin was born October 22,1933, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Axel and Ida (Paul) Elin. He served in the United States Army in 1953, being honorably discharged in 1955. Gerald married Mary Yeager on July 10, 1955, at Westminster Presbyterian Church; she preceded him in death on October 8, 2014. He worked at Albee Printing as a printing press operator, until his retirement. Gerald enjoyed woodworking and bird watching. Gerald was an avid bicyclist.

Gerald passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Bartels Home, at the age of 91. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary, four brothers, Floyd, Delbert, Gayle and Lauren Elin and two sisters, Louella Hummel and Ila Finnerman. Gerald is survived by his two sons, Greg (Maggie) Elin of Waverly and Dave (Carol) Elin of Crestone, Colorado; a daughter, Sue (Carl) Hamer of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Justin (Krista) McDaniel, Ryan (Melissa) McDaniel and Dustin (Colleen) Elin; five step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
