Henderson “Hun” Thomas was born March 4, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Henderson and Louiese (Hutchinson) Thomas, Sr. He attended Waterloo West High School. Hun worked at the University of Northern Iowa as a custodian for 30 years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and he loved to travel. Hun was very proud of being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He liked talking to people about God’s Kingdom.
Hun passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, at the age of 55. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thedo Thomas; a nephew, DeAngelo Souza and a niece, Felicia Carey.
Hun is survived by a daughter, Tianna Thomas of Sumter, South Carolina; a grandson, Foxx Faulkner; three brothers, Rick (Susan) Thomas, Steve (Stephanie) Thomas and Dennis (Janelle) Thomas, all of Waterloo; four sisters, Elnora Foster of Detroit, Michigan, Sheila (James) Russell of San Antonio, Texas, Myrtle Carey of Des Moines and Ruby (Joe) Souza of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Visitation: Friday, May 3, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.
Burial: Friday, May 3, 2024, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.
