It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Hules Putman Sr., affectionately known as "Fella," who departed this world on December 8, 2025, at the age of 67 in his home in Waterloo. Born on September 24, 1958, Fella was a cherished soul whose life was marked by love for his family and had an unwavering spirit.

Fella's greatest joy came from being surrounded by his grandchildren, whom he adored. He took pleasure in fishing, and found delight in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching reruns of Little House on the Prairie and playing video games. His warm-hearted nature and sense of humor made him a beloved figure among family and friends.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his five sisters, Lenora Gamblin, Jannie Scott, Hope Putman, Tammy Putman, and Quannie Holmes; and three brothers, Rick Putman, Hules “Cee” Putman, and David Putman. Fella was the proud father of five children: Timothy (Danielle) Putman Sr., Joey (Ashley) Putman, James (Berniesha) Putman Jr., and Anastacia (Stacey) Putman, along with his stepchild Shyla Cole. He also leaves behind 19 cherished grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.

Fella was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Mae) Putman, his father, Hules Putman, his sister, Betsy Putman, his brother, Tony Putman, and his brother-in-law, George Gamblin. Their memories, along with the values he instilled in his family, will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

Services to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Crystal Cathedral of Faith Church, located at 3040 Hammond Ave in Waterloo, commencing at 1:00 PM. James (Fella) Hules Putman Sr. will be remembered fondly as a devoted family man whose gentle spirit and warm smile will be missed by all who knew him.
