Janice Seda

Janice Marie Seda, 76, of Waterloo, Iowa, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Harmony Waterloo. Born on May 17, 1949, in Waterloo, she was the daughter of Frank and Marian Seda. Jan graduated from West High School in 1968 and went on to complete her studies at Gates Business College, where she earned her degree in 1970.

In the late 1970s, Jan’s friendship with Vicki Sexton, introduced by their mutual friend Jan Greene, blossomed into a lifelong bond. Together, they co-founded one of the first home health care businesses in Iowa in 1992. Jan also ran a successful Avon business for more than 40 years.

Jan was a woman who valued kindness and connection, often recalling how the Greene family taught her the importance of a hug. While she never had children of her own, she was known to all as a warm, caring, and generous person, who treated everyone she met like family. She enjoyed spending her free time reading, playing cards, crafting, and indulging in games on her phone or tablet, with a special love for BINGO.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents and her dear friends Vicki Sexton and Jan Greene.

She is survived by her brother, LeRoy Seda of California, three aunts, and numerous cousins.

In honor of Jan’s wishes, there will be no formal services. However, she requested that anyone wishing to send flowers do so to the Sexton family or consider making a donation in her name to a cancer-related charity.
