Jeffrey David Rule of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at MercyOne, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 30, 1967, in Boone, Iowa, to William and Jacquelyn Brown Rule.
Jeffrey attended Dunkerton High School and, over the course of his life, worked off and on as a truck driver. He was a devoted sports fan, especially when it came to his beloved Cowboys and Hawkeyes. He also had a deep enjoyment of NASCAR and even took an interest in drag racing. Jeffrey was a lifelong bachelor who treasured his friendships. He remained close with his junior high classmates through the years; a reflection of the loyalty and genuine connection he brought to those around him. He will be remembered as a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor, someone who could make others laugh and whose presence was easy to enjoy.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Rule; his sister, Michelle Rule; his stepfather, Herb Clemen; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Jeffrey leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forward. He is survived by his mother, Jackie of Waterloo; his brother, Terry Rule of Waterloo; and his sisters, JoEllen Mead and her husband, Darrin, of Waterloo, and Becky Rule-Stille of Waterloo. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, along with the many friends whose lives were brightened by his humor and steadfast friendship.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Parrott and Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the same location. Jeffrey will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. In honor of Jeffrey all are asked to wear Hawkeyes, Cowboys, or NASCAR attire.
