Jeffrey Scott Gales

Jeffrey Scott Gales was born June 18,1958 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Paul Francis and Nellie Mae (Van Slyke) Gales. Jeffrey graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1976. In 1984, he married the love of his life, Janet Louise Rains. Jeffrey was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping, earning him the nickname “Grizzly.” He enjoyed working, repairing, and rebuilding Mopar muscle cars. Jeffrey was hardworking and would do anything for anyone. He had a fun-loving sense of humor and was well-liked by all who were lucky enough to know him. Above all, Jeffrey loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Jeffrey passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids at the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, David Gales and William Gales.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Janet of Van Horne, Iowa; his son, Jacob (Katherine) Gales of Rochester, Minnesota; his daughters, Jenna Gales of Rochester, Minnesota, Jolene Gales of Coralville, Iowa, and Julie (Robert) Huschak of Princeton, Texas; his brother, Rick (Ann) Gales of Seguin, Texas; his sisters, Paula (Dale) Wilson of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Peggy (Jim) Biwer of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Bev (Tom) Clark of Waterloo, Iowa, and his sister-in-law, Kathy Gales; and his six grandchildren, Robin Gales, Adelynne Gales, Isla Huschak, Robert Huschak, Reed Gales and Levi Gales.

Visitation: Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Friday, July 18 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.

Funeral Service: Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.

Burial to follow at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
