A precious one from us has gone, a voice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our home, which never can be filled. And after a lonely heartache, and many a silent a tear, we’ll always have a beautiful memory of one we loved so dear.
Jo Cathy “Momma Jo” (Anthony) Jordan was born March 10, 1954, in Indianola, Mississippi, the daughter of Fannie L. (Brown) Anthony and Sago Anthony. She graduated from East High School. She attended the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and received her BA Degree in Criminology. She peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, surrounded by her children.
Jo Cathy married Pastor Lonnie Jack Jordan Jr. in September 1978, and to this union six children were born: Damien (Lonterrius), Lonnis, Lontavius, Lamont, Shari, and La Tia.
Jo Cathy confessed her hope in Christ at an early age at the Union Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Space Savers Usher Board and the Mission Board.
Jo Cathy leaves to cherish her memory seven children: four sons, Antonius Jordan of Houston, Texas, Lonnis (Debra) Jordan of Grovetown, Georgia, Lontavius (Monesha) Jordan, Lamont Jordan, both of Waterloo, Iowa, and three daughters, Nichellee Wright, Shari Jordan, and La Tia Jordan, all of Waterloo, Iowa. Two sisters, Grace (William) Tate and Linda Anthony, and one brother, Robert Anthony, all of Waterloo, Iowa. Waterloo, IA. Three Goddaughters, Maureen Jordan, Crystal (Scott) Jones, and Markedia (Wright) McCoy. Many stepchildren and a special friend, Charles Young. She has 28 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jo Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Damien Lonterrius Anthony, two sisters, Bertha Dixon and Earnestine Wright, and one brother, Jimmy Anthony.
