Kenneth "Butch" Lester Iverson Jr., of Waterloo, IA, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at UnityPoint Hospital. He was 79 years old.
Born on March 20, 1946, in Wycoff, MN, Kenneth was the son of Kenneth Sr. and Shirley (Freiheit) Iverson. He graduated from Leroy High School in Leroy, MN, in 1964. Following his graduation, Kenneth lent a hand on the family farm, where his work ethic and connection to the land laid the foundation for a life dedicated to hard work and family.
In 1971, he married the love of his life, Marie Fecht, in Wycoff, MN. Kenneth and Marie moved back to Iowa a couple of years after getting married for a job opportunity. After a few years, he landed a job at John Deere, a company he would proudly serve for 30 years until his retirement.
Kenneth was a devoted member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale, where he actively participated in the men’s group. He cherished his time in the great outdoors, often found joy driving around his acreage on his little FORD tractor. A natural conversationalist, he had a remarkable talent for connecting with people, brightening the day of everyone he encountered.
Kenneth's family was his greatest blessing. He loved them dearly and embraced the role of “backup babysitter” for his oldest grandchild during his younger years. He took every opportunity to travel and spend time with his children and grandchildren, taking immense pride in sharing their accomplishments and adventures.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Sr. and Shirley.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie of Waterloo; one son, Brad (Valerie) Iverson of Bettendorf, IA; one daughter, Michelle Cochran of Grimes, IA; four grandchildren, Ivan, Odin, Emmy, and Nathan; one brother, Kevin (Donna) Iverson of MN; two sisters, Ronda Fecht of Waterloo, IA and Twila (Roger) Wiersma of MN; and many family and friends.
Services for Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale, IA, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Martin Luther Cemetery in Spring Valley, MN, on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
