Lake Alan Jacobsen of Evansdale, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the age of 20.
Born November 10, 2005, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Jerry Jacobsen and Sabrina (Brandt) Thompson, Lake was raised in Evansdale, and spent most of his life there. He attended East High School in Waterloo. From an early age, Lake’s gentle soul and warm spirit touched those around him. He was known for his quiet demeanor, easygoing nature, and his ability to get along with everyone he met.
Photography was a passion of Lakes. He found joy in capturing the beauty of the world around him, especially during trips with his close friends. These adventures, most recently to Michigan, were treasured times for Lake, combining his love of the outdoors with his love for experiencing new things. He embraced every opportunity to hike and be surrounded by nature, finding peace and inspiration in those settings.
Lake had some very close family and friends who valued his companionship and steady presence. He enjoyed hanging out with them, whether out exploring, bonfires, or just hanging out with friends. His passions also extended to alot of gaming and watching a wide variety of television shows, pastimes that brought him comfort and joy. Above all, Lake cherished his family, particularly a special bond with his little brother Jace, with whom he loved to play and spend time. Their closeness was a source of happiness for both, and Lake’s role as older brother was one he took to naturally.
Lake is survived by his parents and stepparents, Jerry (Lauren) Jacobsen of Evansdale, IA, and Sabrina (Virgil) Thompson of Ohio; his son, Shane, and Shane’s mom Shayna; his siblings: Jace, Kloyie, Alyssa, Shayna, Laci, Alex, Courtney (Josh), Jadi, and Jori. He is also survived by his grandparents, Sherryl Jacobsen and Gerald and Candy Brandt, his aunts and uncles Jennifer Jacobsen (Wroe), Brenda Brandt, Bridget and Shawn Sheffert, as well as many cousins,, and a wide circle of family and friends.
Lake was preceded in death by his grandpa, Jerry Jacobsen, and his aunt, Angela Huntley.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Assembly of God in Elk Run Heights, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will take place at Garden of Memories in Waterloo following the service.
Lake Alan Jacobsen’s gentle spirit, kindness, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
