Larry William Clayton, a devoted family man and hardworking individual, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2026, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. At the age of 58, Larry’s departure marks the loss of a genuinely kind and loyal spirit deeply cherished by all who knew him.

Born on September 20, 1967, in Waterloo, Iowa, Larry was the beloved son of Jerry and Julia (Antrim) Clayton. He spent his formative years in Waterloo, where the values of community and hard work were ingrained in him. Larry dedicated over two decades to his profession as a traveling bridge cleaner, earning a reputation as the embodiment of a workaholic who took great pride in his labor.

During his younger years, Larry met his lifelong companion, Connie. Their enduring relationship spanned more than 20 years, during which Larry embraced the role of “dad” to Connie’s three children with great affection and responsibility. Tragically, Connie passed away in 2014, leaving a profound void in his life.

In 2024, Larry made the decision to relocate to Ft. Dodge, Iowa, where he continued working for Prestige. Outside of his work commitments, Larry enjoyed simple pleasures such as fishing, sharing stories over a few beers, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with friends and acquaintances alike. Those who knew Larry often spoke of his love to connect and his ability to uplift spirits with humor and pranks, reflecting his warm and down-to-earth nature.

Larry’s heart of gold was evident in his unwavering loyalty and generosity towards family, friends, and even strangers. His willingness to help and his deep care for others left a lasting impression.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Julia Clayton; his lifelong companion, Connie; and his brother, Denny Antrim. He is survived by his sister, Cindy Werkmeister; his brother, Mike Clayton; three stepchildren, Melissa, Melinda, and Melanie; nieces Riley Werkmeister and Kaylani Zook; nephews Tyler Werkmeister, Chad (Lydia) Clayton, and Keagen Werkmeister; along with many other family members and friends who treasured his presence.
