Linda Ann
Knoll
Sep 2, 1951 — Sep 26, 2026
Linda Ann Knoll, 75, of Evansdale, Iowa, died at home on Saturday, September 26, 2026, surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on September 2, 1951, in Webster City, Linda was the daughter of Helen and James Bray. She grew up in Webster City, graduated from high school there, and began a long working career with Qwest, where she dedicated 30 years of service. After retiring, she continued working part time at Target for roughly 15 years, carrying with her the steady work ethic and warm presence that so many knew well.
On August 15, 1971, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Charles Knoll, in Webster City. Together they built a life that took them to Waterloo and eventually to Evansdale, where they made their home. Through the years, Linda found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the people she loved most. She enjoyed reading, going to the casino, and visiting wineries. She treasured time spent with the hockey moms and was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Her love for the Hawkeyes was heartfelt and enduring, and it was especially fitting to those who knew her that she passed away shortly after Iowa’s big win on Saturday.
More than anything, Linda’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. She showed up for them with love and enthusiasm, whether the occasion was a hockey game or a violin concert. She was there for each of them, cheering them on and taking deep pride in all, they did. Her love for her family was constant, generous, and unmistakable.
Linda will be deeply missed by those who survive her: her children, Shaun Knoll and his wife, Sara, of Gallatin, Tennessee; Blake Knoll and his wife, Amy, of Waterloo, Iowa; and Angie Wolff of Dunkerton, Iowa. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, John, Maxim, Addison, Madilyn, Jackson, Tanner (Rachelle), Ethan (Abigail), Emma, and Grayson, as well as her great-granddaughter, Hailey. She is also survived by her brother, James Bray and his wife, Sue, of Lehigh, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Jane Knoll of Harrison, Arkansas; and many nieces, nephews, and great friends whose lives were brightened by her presence.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Charles Knoll; parents, Helen and James Bray; her father-in-law, Herbert Koll; and her sister-in-law, Juliann Bray.
Services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parrott and Wood Funeral Home, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, Iowa.
Linda will be remembered for her strength, her loyalty to those she loved, her spirited enjoyment of life, and the pride she took in her family. Her memory will remain a lasting comfort to all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
