Lubride "Birda" Clark passed away peacefully at her home in Decatur, Georgia, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the age of 60.

Born on April 9, 1966, in Goodman, Mississippi, Birda was the beloved daughter of James Genius Clark and Elma Clark. During her early childhood, the Clark family relocated to Waterloo, Iowa, where she spent her formative years and built lifelong friendships.

Birda attended McKinstry Junior High School and proudly graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1984. Her love for sports began at an early age and remained constant throughout her life. She participated in basketball, cheerleading, and track, earning a scholarship to attend Kirkwood Community College. While living in Waterloo, she was also a faithful member of St. Mark's Baptist Church.

In 1985, Birda welcomed her first child, LaTerece Clark Oglesby, with Roy Walker. She later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1987, and in 1988 welcomed her son, Roy Walker. A true trailblazer, Birda broke barriers within her family by earning her Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and building a successful career in trucking.

Her passion for sports continued well beyond her playing days. In 1996, she became a recreational coach, later serving as a basketball referee. Over the years, her dedication expanded to football and volleyball officiating, where she positively impacted countless athletes and fellow officials.

Birda never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for making people smile and filling every room with laughter. She embraced life wholeheartedly and found joy in traveling, cruising, visiting casinos, attending concerts, and spending time with the people she loved most.

She was preceded in death by her father, James G. Clark; her maternal grandparents, Rosevelt and Maggie D. Gary; her paternal grandparents, Clarence and Gussy Clark; her uncles, Billie Gary and Mack Gary; her aunt, Charlie Marie; and her nephew, Steven Parker.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving mother, Elma Clark; her devoted children, LaTerece Oglesby and Roy Walker; and her five beloved grandchildren, Serenity, Kaleb, Kaden, MiiKing, and Daven Jr., who affectionately knew her as Nana and loved her dearly. She is also survived by her five sisters, JoAnn, Mary, Betty, Rose, and Peggy; her brother, Larry and Brother in Love David; her uncles, Willie and Charles; a host of nieces and nephews who lovingly called her "Sexy Auntie Birda"; and countless cherished friends whose lives were forever touched by her presence.

A Celebration of Life honoring Birda's remarkable journey and lasting impact will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories Funeral Home.

Birda's presence enriched everyone’s lives, fortunate enough to know her. Though her earthly journey has ended, her laughter, strength, kindness, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy is not measured by the years she lived, but by the countless lives she touched along the way.
