Marilyn Jean Lottich, 94, died January 24, 2026, following complications of a severe stroke.
Marilyn was born June 5, 1934, to B.A. Sr. and Mildred Trower Horner, in Waterloo, Iowa, at Allen Hospital. She lived her entire life in Waterloo.
Following graduation from East High School, Marilyn was employed at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works from 1949 to 1955. She was employed as a secretary in the IBM Department until she married co-worker, Dale Lottich on May 15, 1954. They had two sons, Steven, born October 16, 1955, and Scott born July 1, 1958.
In 1968, Marilyn worked as a receptionist at John’s Country Parlor until 1973. Following that, she became the Secretary for First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, retiring in 1998, after 23 years. Marilyn was and remained active serving on the Board of Deacons, The Session Membership Committee and as chairperson for the committee to prepare for the Church’s Sesquicentennial (150 years) Celebration in 2004. Marilyn was also an usher.
Marilyn was an avid reader, enjoying working on crossword puzzles and watching tv, especially the soap opera, Days of Our Lives, which she watched for over 50 years.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; brother, B.A. Horner Jr. and a son, Scott, who died of leukemia in 1967, at the age of 8 years old.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Dale, of 71 years; son, Steve (Terry) Lottich; three grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Mittelholtz, Mirisha Lottich and Chris Lottich; nephew, Bill (Karen) Horner; niece, Shari (Michael Bibby) Horner-Bibby and sister-in-law, Leanne Horner.
Marilyn and Scott are together again.
Memorial Visitation: Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at First Presbyterian Church, 505 Franklin St., Waterloo.
