Mary Lou Jamieson (Bean), age 84, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025. Born Mary Lou Bean on July 9, 1940, she was the cherished daughter of the late Earl and Raymonda Bean.
Mary Lou married Philip Jamieson Sr., on September 20, 1958, embarking on a devoted partnership that spanned over six decades. A dedicated homemaker, Mary Lou poured her heart into raising her children, creating a warm and loving home filled with laughter and joy. She was an avid cook, canner and freezer, preserving the bounty of her husband's garden, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Beyond her passion for her family, Mary Lou enjoyed lively card games, competitive board game nights, and hosting unforgettable "Saturday night shenanigans" with her loved ones. She had a particular fondness for the thrill of gambling and casinos, always ready for a new adventure. Her home was often filled with the sounds of rock and roll music, with favorites including Billy Idol, Neil Diamond, and of course, the iconic Grease Soundtrack. Her creative spirit shone through her love of sewing and her later endeavor to learn crocheting. Of all her loves, being a mom was undoubtedly her greatest joy.
Once her children were grown, Mary Lou embarked on a new chapter, working in Environmental Services at Covenant Medical Center until her retirement.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her beloved son, Eugene John; her sisters, Sylvia Gray and Lela Scheffler; and her brothers, Earnie Bean and Leroy Bean.
She is survived by Philip Jamieson Sr.; her children, Philip Jamieson Jr. (Cindy), Tony Jamieson, Eugenia Jamieson, and Cher McDermott (Scott). Mary Lou also leaves behind nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her brothers, Chris Bean (Diane) and Terry Bean (Carol), who will all dearly miss her loving presence.
