Richard Duane “Fudgie” Collins of Waterloo passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, under the care of Ravenwood Specialty Care at the age of 72.
Richard was born on December 26, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Ethel Florence Collins. He later earned his GED through the Job Corps. He worked for and retired from the City of Cedar Falls Street Department, where he worked for many years as an asphalt repairman. Richard took great pride in his work, known for his strong work ethic and dedication to getting the job done right. During his time with the city, he formed deep friendships with his coworkers and created many lasting memories.
Richard was a passionate and devoted collector of rare coins and beer steins. He loved sharing these treasures with friends and was always eager to tell the stories behind each piece.
Richard is survived by his many friends who loved him dearly.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Collins; one uncle, Henry Collins; and two aunts, Caroline Mulbrook and Helen Schwidder.
Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M to 10:30 A.M, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.
Friends will be gathering after the graveside service at Highway 63 Diner, Waterloo, from 12:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Lunch will not be provided.
