Richard Russell Seehase, born August 25, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on August 13, 2026, just shy of his 80th birthday. The son of Russell Seehase and Arlene (Banser) and stepson of Milton Heidemann, Richard was shaped by the values and traditions of his Iowa upbringing.

A 1964 graduate of Denver High School, Richard spent his early years working on the family farm—baling hay, milking cows, and tending to fieldwork. He was also known for his love of Chevy Chevelles, a passion that sparked many fond memories throughout his youth.

In January 1965, Richard began his long and dedicated career at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo, Iowa, where he worked for 34 years retiring as a supervisor. His strong work ethic and commitment earned him respect among colleagues and friends alike.

Richard was proud to serve his country in the United States Army Reserves, where he was awarded the Marksman (Rifle) Medal. His civic-mindedness also extended to community involvement: he was an active member of the Lions Club, sold seed corn, and served many years as President of the School Board for Jesup Community Schools.

On April 6, 1968, Richard married Janeen Brasch. Together, they made their home in Waterloo before purchasing a farm a few miles west of Jesup. Richard continued farming, often helping neighbors with custom work, drilling beans, and combining. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending local school functions and sporting events—always supporting his community and children.

Following Janeen’s passing in January of 1994, Richard found new beginnings. In May 1997, he married Linda Weaver. Richard retired from farming in 2002, and the couple relocated to Osage Beach, Missouri, where they cherished time boating on Lake of the Ozarks. Later, they moved to an acreage outside Ozark, Missouri, enjoying serene views of the Ozark Mountains and visiting the music shows of Branson together. Richard especially looked forward to trips to Gulf Shores, Alabama, to attend the Shrimp Festival. Throughout the years, Richard and Linda upheld their faith as members of the Methodist Church in Jesup and United Methodist Church in the Nixa, MO.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, two brothers, one brother-in-law, and his first wife, Janeen.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda, of Waukee, Iowa; children Mark (Kelly) Seehase of Jesup, Iowa, Marta (Brad) Hoffman of Ankeny, Iowa, Joy (Ryan) Cory of McCallsburg, Iowa, Blair (Lacey) Seehase of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jay Seehase of Oakdale, Louisiana; and stepchildren Ryan (Emily) Weaver of Mason City, Iowa, Merit (Kurt) Irlmeier of Waukee, Iowa, and Karmen Baumgartel of Coralville, Iowa. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; brothers Roger (Jane) Seehase of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Michael Heidemann of Waterloo, Iowa; sister Sharon Haurum of Waterloo, Iowa; and a large extended family of relatives and friends.

Richard’s life was marked by devotion to family, steadfast work, and unwavering service to his community.

Services to honor and remember Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, Iowa. With the United States Army Funeral Guard and Amvets Post 31 conducting military honors. The family will welcome guests at a visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
