Scott
Dec 8, 1984 — Jul 24, 2026
Scottie L. Scott, 41, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on July 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished.
Scottie was born on December 8, 1984, in Waterloo, Iowa. As a young child, he moved with his family to Durham, North Carolina, where he was baptized. He later returned to Waterloo, where he attended East High School before earning his GED. Committed to continuing his education, Scottie also attended Hawkeye Community College.
Throughout his life, Scottie worked a variety of jobs, but the role he treasured most was caring for his beloved sister, Dominique. Serving as her caregiver brought him a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment, and it reflected the compassionate heart he carried throughout his life.
Scottie had a passion for music and was an avid content creator who enjoyed expressing himself and connecting with others. He had a remarkable sense of humor and was known for making people laugh with his quick wit, playful spirit, and infectious smile. Whether sharing stories, listening to music, or simply spending time with loved ones, Scottie embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories.
Above all else, Scottie genuinely loved and cared for those he considered family and friends. His loyalty, kindness, and generous heart touched countless lives, and his presence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Scottie leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Gloria Morgan of Waterloo, Iowa; his father, Robert Scott of Waterloo, Iowa; his sisters, Chenell (Dennis) Cook of Waterloo, Iowa, Stephanie Buxton of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dominique Long of Waterloo, Iowa; and his brother, Robert Scott II of Waterloo, Iowa.
He also leaves behind his five beloved children: Je'ziah Scott, Jesiah Scott, and Joi Scott, all of North Carolina; Sanai Scott of Waterloo, Iowa; and Ryenn Blackcloud of Marshalltown, Iowa. Scottie is also lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by His maternal grandfather Calvin Spencer, and his maternal grandmother Mamie Spencer. Also preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and grandmother.
Though Scottie's time with us was far too short, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His spirit will never be forgotten.
